The Lies We Tell

I told a lie the other day, thing was I didn’t know it was a lie until I heard the words coming out of my mouth. In fact, I have told this lie over and over again before and never realized it was a lie until this particular moment.

Up until recently, I have been putting myself in a box, a clear and defined person with a set of traits, likes and dislikes, goals and behaviors.

I haven’t known who I was, until now. And telling this lie was something I had done for so long that it just came out easily and it was easy because the truth would have been messy and emotional and although I would love to share that part of me, I’m still scared to, but I’m learning.

Somewhere I lost myself, my identity, who I really was. I wrote a perfect story and cast myself to play the lead role. Getting into character was easy, but the longer I played that role the more I became that character and forgot who I was. The character was amazing, she was the perfect wife, perfect mom, perfect daughter, perfect friend…shit she even became the perfect educator.

The thing is I am not all those things, not even close. As I slowly begin to rediscover the real me, and she is pretty awesome by the way, I continue to uncover the lies I have told.

The lies keep us stuck, they keep us trying to do or be someone we are not.  The truth will set us free, but sometimes we aren’t even sure what the truth is.

The biggest lies I hear women say are, I’m too busy, I can’t, I’m too tired, I need to, I could never do that….

If you continue to say you are too busy, you will always find ways to be busy because that is the “truth” you have decided for yourself, but are you too busy? Can you make time? Would you like to make time?

I found myself, my confidence and I took back control of my life when I started exercising.

I truly believe there is nothing in this world more powerful than realizing what you are capable of physically, once you see and feel what you really can do, the rest just starts to flow and unveils the real you.

It’s time to speak our truth, become unstuck, take back control of our lives and live the one we are meant to live.  Are you ready?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hey there, I’m Heather!

A little bit about me: I grew up in Maine, I’m a homeschooling mom, I love country music, hiking, and spending time with friends.

I’m an ACE-certified personal trainer, I’m TRX certified, and an ACE Youth Fitness Specialist.

I have always had a love of being active, but after the birth of my two kids I was exhausted, I didn’t like how I felt or moved in my own body.

I knew something had to change.

I started working out at home, without equipment, and discovered I didn’t need a fancy, expensive gym to start feeling better about myself.

My own fitness journey inspired me to become a personal trainer so that I could start helping other moms who were just like me.
